Road Through the Country

This painting is not my usual style. I had been thinking about simplifying and abstracting elements of a landscape.  It’s about defining the landscape in shapes and outline those shapes with the background color that I first paint on my canvases.  In this case, I painted on top of a bright purple background and the places I did not paint over allowed the background color show through.

I love the designer feel and the simplified blocks of color that creates the trees, road, shadows, fields and the hills in the background. It feels…bold!
