Path Between Two Trees

The hike was a long one through the hills near San Martin. I could see it stretching out before me for miles.

I knew I was going to hike the entire trail - here before me was a beautiful scene that had to be painted. 

I chose to paint this on a solid black background or under painting. I then painted on top of the under painting. The places where the black shows through is where I didn't paint. The black gives the effect of bold outlines which enhances the colors and makes them crisp and alive.
