An Autumn Trail in the California Hills

For me, there is nothing more pleasant than taking a hike in the California Hills during an Autumn late afternoon when the weather is cooler and some of the trees are finely dressed in their Fall wardrobe.  Beautiful colors!  The golden light from the late afternoon sun cast it's warm color over the landscape.

My style is one of big strokes over a underpainting - in this case, I painted this scene on top of a solid bright purple background. The areas of purple that I did not paint over, allows the purple to show through creating a vibration between the brighter yellows and the purple. This made the scene come alive for me.
